Accessibility Declaration
The Studierendenwerk Siegen is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with § 3 (1) of the Disability Equality Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (BGG NRW) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance of North Rhine-Westphalia (BITV NRW), in their currently applicable versions.
This declaration on accessibility applies to the website:

1. Status of compatibility with the requirements
This website is partially compliant with the requirements of the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance of North Rhine-Westphalia (BITV NRW).
The content listed below is not yet fully accessible. Studierendenwerk Siegen is continuously working to identify and remove existing barriers.
The goal is the ongoing improvement of accessibility in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA.
2. Non-accessible content
a)Non-compliance with legal requirements
– Images without sufficient alternative text: Alt attributes are partially incomplete or not sufficiently descriptive.
– Dynamic content (e.g. mobile navigation, sliders) is not yet fully optimised for screen reader usage.
b) Disproportionate burden
– The accessibility-compliant processing of automatically generated meal plan PDFs is currently not fully possible.
The documents are generated automatically by the system, meaning that subsequent structural adaptation for accessibility would require a disproportionate technical and organisational effort.
This is currently considered a disproportionate burden.
However, the meal plan content is fully accessible directly on the website.
– The childcare booking tool is currently not fully accessible.
It is an externally provided application over which the organisation has only limited technical influence.
A fully accessible implementation would currently require a disproportionate technical and organisational effort.
Improvements to accessibility are considered as part of future development cycles.
c) Content outside the scope of applicable legislation
– PDF documents published before the current accessibility requirements came into effect are not yet fully accessible in all cases.
New documents are created with accessibility in mind whenever possible.
3. Planned measures
Studierendenwerk Siegen is continuously working to eliminate identified barriers.
Improvements are implemented step by step as part of ongoing technical and editorial development of the website.
4. Preparation of this statement
